Network / 04
Your own line, first.
Contributing starts with a reading of your own connection. The same reading is what you contribute. Nothing is sent that you cannot see yourself.
Getting started
Four steps, none of them a purchase.
-
01
Install
A small client on a device that stays on a connection you care about. A desktop, a phone, a box on a shelf.
-
02
Set a schedule
How often it runs and when it should stay out of the way. Pausing is one switch.
-
03
Watch your own line
The dashboard is yours before it is anyone else’s. It is useful on its own, whether or not you ever contribute a reading.
-
04
Contribute
Turn on submission and your verified readings join the regional cell you are in.
Sample dataThere is no client to install yet. This describes the flow being built.
Reward
How payment is intended to work.
Nothing has been paid, and no rate is set.
-
01
Submit
A device finishes a run and signs the result.
-
02
Verify
The reading passes the gates, or it is refused and recorded.
-
03
Credit
Accepted readings accrue against a published per-measurement rate. Refused readings earn nothing.
-
04
Pay
Credits settle once the network has revenue to settle them from, which means once somebody has bought data or funded a bounty.
Sample dataRewards are not live. No rate is set, no balance exists, and nothing has been paid. The figures in the dashboard above are arithmetic over a placeholder rate so that the interface can be built and reviewed.
The deal
What you give and what you get.
| You give | You get |
|---|---|
| A few seconds of a connection you already pay for, on a schedule you set | A continuous, honest record of what that connection actually does |
| Measurements of the path, signed by your device | A share of what the network earns from the dataset those measurements build |
| Nothing about your traffic, your content or your exact location | The ability to point at evidence when your provider says the line is fine |
Measure your own internet
The network is not live yet. This is where it starts.
